Violin
Germany - United States
The chinlone ball reminded me of my own objects of performance and practice. String instruments are objects often passed down through many generations and owners. This violin, made in germany circa 1821, has been passed down and sold to many owners throughout its lifetime.
I am this violin’s latest owner and I enjoy thinking of all the people who performed on this instrument and the happy memories of them playing which connect us. I have been playing the violin since childhood and in my 13 years of performing it has taught me discipline, musicianship, creativity and expression. Wherever I go my violin enriches my life, providing me comfort in action and community.
